From July 15 to July 21 the Jamestown Police Department responded to 409 calls, resulting in 186 security checks. Officers also responded to two car accidents, 20 fire calls, 12 animal complaints, 13 parking complaints and eight alarms. Police conducted 30 traffic stops, resulting in four arrests and six citations.
• Jesus Rabano Nunez, 38, of Marsh Street, Newport, was charged July 19 with driving without a license. According to police, Rabano was pulled over on Route 138 for failing to move over for an emergency vehicle. He was issued a summons at the scene. A court date was scheduled for Aug. 1 at 2nd District Court in Newport.
• Katherine E. Norris, 18, of Stony Lane, North Kingstown, was charged July 18 with driving with an expired license. According to police, Norris was pulled over on Route 138 for speeding. She was issued a summons on the scene. A court date was scheduled for Aug. 8 at 2nd District Court in Newport.
Possession of alcohol
Kyle Sayre, 18, of Kelley Road, Saunderstown, and a 17-yearold North Kingstown boy were charged on July 20 with underage possession of alcohol. The juvenile was also charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, refusing to submit to a chemical test, and possession of marijuana. According to police, the juvenile was pulled over on Tashtassuc Road after he allegedly fled the scene of a disturbance on Mast Street. Sayre was a passenger in the car. Police say he was in the back seat with a backpack containing alcohol. Both defendants were transported to the police station. Sayre was issued a summons to appear in 2nd District Court in Newport on Aug. 1. No court date was scheduled for the minor; he was released to his parents.
