Police Log

The Jamestown Police Department from April 13 to April 20 responded to 325 calls for service. Of those calls, officers performed 185 security checks of vacant homes, businesses and public buildings. The police also responded to four automobile accidents, 12 fire calls, five animal complaints and seven alarms. There were 27 traffic stops, resulting in four citations and three arrests.

• Jeffrey J. Degraybirch, 29, of Post Road, Warwick, was charged on April 13 for driving with a suspended license. According to police, Degraybirch was pulled over on North Road at 7:45 a.m. after receiving reports of him driving erratically. The defendant was transported to the police station, processed and released. A court date was scheduled for April 24 at 2nd District Court in Newport.

• Rony Hernandez, 28, of Clinton Avenue, Newport, was charged on April 14 for driving without a license. According to police, Hernandez was pulled over on Route 138 at 9:35 p.m. for speeding. The defendant was transported to the police station, processed and released. A court date was scheduled for April 17 at 2nd District Court in Newport.

Drug charges

Dillon Aldrich, 27, of Boughton Road, Newport, was charged April 15 with two counts of possessing a controlled substance and for driving with a suspended license. According to police, Aldrich was pulled over on Route 138 at 1:47 a.m. for speeding. Following a search, police allegedly found Oxycodone and Oxymorphone in his possession. Both are opioid painkillers. The defendant was transported to the police station, processed, arraigned and released. A court date was scheduled for May 28 at 2nd District Court in Newport.
