The Jamestown Police Department from June 22 to June 29 responded to 345 calls for service. Of those calls, officers performed 160 security checks of vacant homes, businesses and public buildings. The police also responded to four automobile accidents, 20 fire calls, seven animal complaints, and 10 alarms. There were 17 traffic stops, resulting in one arrest and two citations.
Gregory B. Allen, 21, of Seabreeze Drive, North Kingstown, was charged June 22 for driving with a suspended license. According to police, Allen was stopped at 10:50 p.m. on Narragansett Avenue for operating a vehicle with no license plates displayed. He was transported to the police station, processed and released with a summons. A court date was scheduled for July 3 at 2nd District Court in Newport.
A 17-year-old boy from Warwick was arrested June 24 on two counts of possession of a controlled substance. According to police, there was a report of two juveniles acting suspicious at Fort Wetherill State Park. Responding officers found diazepam and alprazolam on one of the juveniles. He was transported to the police station, processed and released to his parents. The case was referred to Rhode Island Family Court.
Williams J. Moreland, 33, of Sloop Street, Jamestown, was charged June 24 for having an outstanding bench warrant issued from 2nd District Court in Newport. According to police, he was arrested at his home without incident. Moreland was transported to the police station, processed, and taken to the Adult Correctional Institution in Cranston. A court date was scheduled for June 25 at 2nd District Court.
Breaking and entering
Kenneth F. Camadeco, 60, of Narragansett Avenue, Jamestown, was charged June 24 for breaking and entering and stealing a credit card. Following a trespassing complaint on June 15 at an Orient Avenue residence, police obtained an arrest warrant for Camadeco. He allegedly entered the home and stole a credit card. Camadeco knew the homeowner. He was arrested, taken into custody, transported to the police station, and processed. Camadeco was then taken to 2nd District Court in Newport for arraignment. He was presented in court as a probation violator. He was then transported to the Adult Correctional Institution in Cranston and held without bail. A court date was scheduled for June 30 at 2nd District Court.
Russell L. Monteiro, 48, of Conanicus Avenue, Jamestown, was charged June 26 with disorderly conduct. According to police, officers responded to a disturbance complaint and learned that Monteiro was involved in a fight in the courtyard. He was transported to the police station, processed, and held overnight. In the morning, Monteiro was transported to 2nd District Court in Newport for arraignment.
• Officers on June 23 responded to a larceny complaint at 12:50 p.m. on Fort Wetherill Road. According to police, $800 in carpentry tools was taken from an unlocked car.
• Officers on June 24 responded to a trespassing complaint at 6:57 p.m. on Plymouth Road. According to police, a family member was not wanted on the property. No charges were filed.
