Police log

The Jamestown Police Department from May 12-19 responded to 387 calls, including 147 security checks, nine automobile accidents, 12 fire dispatches, eight animal complaints and eight alarms. There were 25 traffic stops resulting in three citations and two arrests.

DUI

• A 49-year-old Scituate man was charged May 13 for drunken driving and refusing the chemical test. The defendant was stopped on Route 138 for speeding. He was transported to the police station and arraigned. A court date was scheduled for May 20 in Newport District Court.

• A 40-year-old Middletown woman was charged May 14 for drunken driving and refusing the chemical test. The defendant was involved in an accident on Route 138. She was transported to the police station and arraigned. A court date was scheduled for May 20 in Newport District Court.

License

A 49-year-old Middletown woman was charged May 14 for driving with a suspended license. Police approached the defendant because her vehicle was idle in the middle of Route 138. She was transported to the police station and released with a summons. A court date was scheduled for May 27 at Newport District Court.

Domestic

A 28-year-old Jamestown man was charged May 16 for disorderly conduct and trespassing. According to police, officers were called to a residence on Conanicus Avenue for a domestic argument. The parties were separated and the man was given a no-trespass order. He later returned to the property and was arrested. The defendant was transported to the police station and arraigned. A court was scheduled for May 20 at Newport District Court.

Vandalism

Houses and vehicles on Summit Avenue and on East Shore Road were hit with paintballs May 15. There are no suspects.
