Jamestown men sing on Saturday
The Men’s Chorus of Jamestown will present its 12th annual summer concert this Saturday, Aug. 27, at 7:30 p.m.
The 20-voice chorus is directed by founder B.J. Whitehouse. The concert will feature an eclectic blend of various musical styles.
Some of the high-quality men’s chorus literature includes arrangements of “Away From the Roll of the Sea,” “Guide My Head” and Ron Nelson’s “Behold Man.”
The lighter pieces and a few novelty numbers include “Hello, Mary Lou,” “Mama Don’t ‘Low,” and “Chain Gang.”
And, as usual, the audience will join in on an old-fashioned sing-along.
One of the highlights of the evening will be an arrangement by Jamestown musician and writer Sam Bari. He has arranged the jazz standard “When Sunny Gets Blue” especially for the men’s chorus.
The concert will be at the Community Center across from the East Ferry waterfront on Conanicus Avenue.
Tickets are available at the door at $7 for general admission and $5 for children and seniors. Call 423-1574 for ticket reservations.
