Still time to donate for antique fire engine wheels

Last week’s spaghetti supper, put on by the Entertainment Committee of the Jamestown Fire Department, was a success, with some $1,150 reaped for the purchase of new wooden wheels for the department’s antique fire equipment.

The fund-raising goal for the wheels — eight of them at a cost of $600 each — is $4,800 and donations to purchase the handmade wheels will continue. Exact replicas of the aging wheels will be made by artisans in the Amish country of Pennsylvania.

To make a donation, send a check to the Wheel Fund, Jamestown Fire Department, 50 Narragansett Ave., Jamestown, RI 02835.
