Learn about trees at R.I. Tree Council workshops

A knowledgeable and fun tree care education course, which includes classroom learning and hands-on workshops, is being offered by the Rhode Island Tree Council. Topics include tree identification, biology, planting, pruning, pests and diseases, benefits of trees, and much more. The classes are taught by some of the state’s most renowned tree experts. All levels of inquiries are welcome.

Classes will meet on six Tuesday evenings beginning on Sept. 20 and 27, Oct. 4, 11, 18, and 25. There will also be two Saturday field workshops in October. At the conclusion of the course, participants will have the opportunity to give 30 hours of treerelated service to their communities, at which time they will become Certified Rhode Island Tree Stewards.

This fall course will be held at Franciscans Missionary of Mary in North Providence. The fee is $55, which includes the classes, workshops, a reference manual, and a year’s membership in the tree council.
