Choristers looking for new singers

The Newport Navy Choristers are seeking new members of all voice ranges for the upcoming 2005-2006 musical season..

The choristers have been performing in the Newport area since 1953, raising over $300,000 for local charities. This year, the choristers will be performing in three concerts during the holiday season. One concert in the Fall River area and two in Newport as part of the “Christmas in Newport” celebration.

The Navy choristers have been invited to sing at the Breakers mansion on Bellevue Avenue on Saturday, Dec. 3, and their annual Christmas concert will be at St. Lucy’s Church on West Main Road, Middletown, on Friday, Dec. 9 .

Membership is open to all members of the Newport Navy community, including active duty, reserve and retired military, all branches of the military, their spouses and children 16 years of age and older, and Department of Defense personnel and their dependents.

There are no auditions for the main chorus, and no need to be able to read music to join this group. Rehearsals begin on Sept. 6 at the Quinn Lecture Room at the Naval War College.
