Swanhurst Chorus seeks new voices

Swanhurst Chorus, Newport County’s oldest continually performing choral ensemble, will begin rehearsals for its 77th season on Tuesday, Sept. 6, at 7 p.m., with a repeat session on Wednesday, Sept. 7, also at 7 p.m.

New singers interested in joining are invited and encouraged to attend the open registration and rehearsal sessions held during the first weeks of the season.

All Tuesday sessions take place at St. Lucy’s Church, 909 West Main Rd., Middletown. All Wednesday sessions are held at the Church of St. John the Evangelist at the corner of Washington and Willow streets in Newport. No audition or previous experience is necessary. Students are especially welcome and encouraged.

Regular weekly rehearsals will be held every Tuesday and Wednesday evenings from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m., with chorus members required to attend one session per week, depending upon schedule and availability.

Swanhurst’s first concert, featuring Hora Novissima by Horatio Parker with full orchestra, is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 19. For further information about joining Swanhurst Chorus, call 682-1630, e-mail info@Swanhurst.org, or visit www.swanhurst.org.
