Trinket or treasure? Find out at the library

The Friends of Jamestown Library will sponsor “Trinket or Treasure Antique Appraisal?” on Saturday, Sept. 17, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Jamestown library.

Jamestowners are invited to bring up to three items to be appraised. The cost is $10 for one item or $15 for a maximum of three items. While this is not a written appraisal for insurance purposes, the qualified evaluators will be able to tell attendees if they have a trinket or a treasure.

On hand to give their expert opinion will be Roger King of Roger King Fine Arts in Newport for paintings and fine arts, Paul Murphy, who does general antique appraisal, Francis Frost of Newport, who specializes in photos and works on paper, Michael Westman, who does glass, ceramics, silver, and furniture, and Thomas O’Callaghan, an expert on oriental rugs. A watch and jewelry appraiser has yet to be named.

All proceeds will go to the Friends of the Jamestown Library. Call 423-7280.
