Plant society offers Ft. Wetherill walk
The Rhode Island Wild Plant Society will hold a number of fall walks, workshops, and field trips at locations around Rhode Island.
In Jamestown, the group will offer an Autumnal Equinox Walk at Ft. Wetherill State Park on Thursday, Sept. 22, from 1:30 to 4 p.m.
The walk will explore coastal scrub habitat, check out the non-native flora that has naturalized at the fort, and see a number of fall blooming plants and fruits. The walk will be led by Lisa Gould, co-author of “Coastal Plants from Cape Cod to Cape Canaveral.”
There is a charge of $3 for members and $5 for non-members.
