Teaching expert discusses primary education tonight
The Newport Public Library will present education expert Dr. Peter Adamy tonight, Sept. 22, at 6 p.m. in the John Clarke Children’s Program Room.
Adamy will present “A Parent’s Primer on Childhood Education,” featuring ways for parents to support the educational needs and experiences of family members in grades kindergarten through 5.
Adamy will discuss strategies that parents can use to increase their involvement in their child’s school activities, examine methods parents can use to build and foster a relationship with a child’s teachers, and offer parents tools they can use to support a child’s educational efforts throughout the school year. The program will conclude with a question and answer period.
Adamy is an associate professor of education at the University of Rhode Island. As the leader of the elementary teacher education team, his teaching efforts focus on classroom management and the student teaching practicum. His research publications have been on the uses of technology in teaching and teacher education.
