Your help needed with community playground rehab

Plans for the Jamestown Community Playground Repair/Rebuild Workshop are progressing as we draw closer to the project weekend.

The committee has been meeting and assigning team leadership roles to make the project go smoothly. Donations of material and equipment are being lined up, and arrangements for child care and feeding of the volunteer crew are being made.

Now all we need is you!

In addition to our dedicated committee, we will need a crew of about 40 people for preliminary setup on Friday, Oct. 21, and a total of 100 volunteers on the big rebuilding day, Saturday, Oct. 22.

We need a handful of skilled tradesmen to help lead our construction crews, lots of workers with basic knowledge and skill with tools, and lots of willing worker bees for all kinds of chores.

When we are finished, under the guidance of the Learning Structures experts, our fantastic Community Playground will be returned to its original award-winning form, and perhaps even be a little better.

With the improvements that have been made in construction details and materials, including improved wood sealer, our playground will be even safer and longer lasting.

Help us revitalize Rhode Island’s number one family playground, and provide current and future Jamestown children with the best possible playground!

Volunteer sign-up forms are available at the Community Center and several other locations around town.

Forms and more information are also available on the Town’s Web site at jamestownri.net/rec/rec.html, or by calling 423-7260 or 423-7211.
