The North Kingstown High School sailing team won the Boston Gleekman Champion Regatta this past Sunday, Oct. 9.

The weather was cool and damp with a brisk northeast wind of 8 to 12 knots. Skipper Gary Largess, class of 2007, and crew Anna Miniutti, class of 2006, finished second in A division, while Pete Largess, class of 2007, and Marisa Nixon, class of 2006, finished second in B division.

This combination of sailors won the regatta against 19 teams by one point after 16 races sailed. The victory qualified NK for a berth in the prestigious Great Oaks Regatta, which will be held in Austin, Texas, on Lake Travis this Nov. 12 and 13 in FJs.

Last year, NK won the silver medal out of a pool of 33 teams.
