Babysitting course offered at library
Young adults, both boys and girls from the ages of 11 through 15, are invited to sign up for a Rhode Island Red Cross baby-sitting class at the Jamestown library on Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Registration for the class will begin immediately. Visit the library or call 423-7280. Participants will learn how to perform first aid and get professional help fast, identify common safety hazards and prevent injuries, make good, responsible decisions, and supervise infants through school-age children.
Also on the agenda will be how to: choose safe and age-appropriate toys and games, perform basic care routines like diapering, feeding and dressing, preparing simple meals and snacks, handling bedtime issues, and how to find and interview for baby-sitting jobs.
Each participant will receive an American Red Cross Babysitter’s Training Certificate. There will be a $10 fee per student.
