Alice K. Spong, 85
Former Jamestown resident Alice K. Spong, 85, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2005 at the Rainbow Nursing Home in Peabody, Mass. She was the wife of the late John Y. Spong who passed away in February of 1999.
Born in Jamestown, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Anna Belle (Arnold) Kirchner. She lived in Jamestown until 1998.
She was a volunteer for the Jamestown Ambulance Corps and worked for the Jamestown library for many years. She was also a member of the St. Matthews Altar Guild.
She is survived by a son, John Y. Spong Jr. and his wife Linda of South Hamilton, Mass.; and a daughter, Ann Szmania, wife of Joe Szmania of Bethlehem, Pa.; a sister, Mildred Ladd, of Brentwood, N.H.; and four grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brothers, Roger and Chuck, a sister Louise Trytek, and two grandchildren.
