Thanks to our fire department
name and heartfelt thanks to the long list of Jamestowners who owe the Jamestown Fire Department a deep debt of gratitude for their immediate and wholly professional services.
I think it’s unbelievable that a volunteer fire department can mount such an impressive response in such a short period of time at one o’clock in the afternoon — a time when I would expect our firefighters to be away at their day jobs, some possibly off the island. These men and women left work, responded, did their job, and stayed on-site to ensure that there would be no later flare-ups. One-hundredand fifty percent above and beyond the call of duty. They not only saved me, they saved all the buildings down the block. I want all Jamestowners to know that we can feel safe with the level of expertise and training these professionals possess and the excellent equipment that they respond with. I know I do. We are so fortunate.
I don’t know where to begin to acknowledge and thank all the people who have called, e-mailed, and stopped by to offer their help and support to help me put this all back together. To be honest, in a time when I have grown
somewhat jaded in my opinion of the way things are in town compared to the old days, I can’t begin to describe how good it is to receive such support. Maybe the old days aren’t gone just yet. Maybe I don’t need to be such a cynic. But I do know one thing for sure. This is one great, supportive town and I thank you for your support. At this time, I don t know when we will be able to open, shouldn’t be much more than a month, but I know we will take care of business, do things right, and come back and present to Jamestown a club they will all be proud of. Thanks to all.
