A great field trip
On Friday, Nov. 18, the Jamestown Education Foundation, in collaboration with the Department of Parks and Recreation and the Teen Center, sponsored a day trip to the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston.
While parents and teachers held conferences during the day, 28 students and their chaperones toured the museum’s many galleries, enjoying sculpture and architecture from Ancient Egypt and Greece, paintings by European Impressionists, Japanese ceramics, and much more. On behalf of JEF, I would like to thank the many people who made the trip possible.
Many thanks to our chaperones Melissa Minto, of the Teen Center, and Jan Kraus, Melrose school art teacher. Thanks also to the following parent chaperones: Sue Fay, Audrey Flanagan, Eleanor Hanson, Dori Hirsch, and Kate Petrie.
I would like to thank Matt Bolles and the recreation department for their support, and Superintendent Kathy Sipala and the school department, without whom the trip would not have been possible.
The day was a great success and our students had a ball spending a day in Boston with friends! Look for more JEF day trips in the future!
