Baptist church welcomes speaker on Kenyan charity
In October 2002, the Mwea Fund was unofficially created when Candy Adriance and four friends attached a fund-raiser to their climb up Mt. Kilimanjaro. Their efforts provided the Mwea Primary School with funds to complete construction of three new classroom buildings, refurbish existing decrepit classrooms, and purchase badly needed textbooks for 800 students from grades K through 8 in the town of Mwea, which is 65 miles northeast of Nairobi, Kenya.
Additional funds will help village women, who daily prepare nutritious, complete hot lunches for children, many of whom have been orphaned by the AIDS epidemic.
Adriance will speak to the congregation of Central Baptist Church on Sunday, Dec. 11, at 11 a.m., after the morning service. All are welcome to attend.
