Juvenile arrest

A17-year-old male was picked up Nov. 27 for driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop on Route 138.

After the stop, the youth was found to be in possession of a small amount of marijuana, police said.

The boy was turned over to Family Court, police said.

Drunk driving charged

Michele N. Smith, 30, of Middletown was charged with drunk driving Nov. 26 after she was spotted driving erratically on North Main Road.

Smith is scheduled to appear Dec. 2 in Newport District Court, police said.

Suspended license charged

Nicholas M. Wilkie, 21, of 7 Windsor St. was charged with driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop on North Main Road for driving without headlights.

Wilkie is scheduled to appear Dec. 9 in Newport District Court, police said.

Alcohol possession charged

Daniel S. Kitts, 19, of 17 Plymouth Rd. was charged with possession of alcohol by an underage person after a traffic stop for driving an unregistered car. Kitts is due to appear Dec. 2 in Newport District Court, police said.

Vandalism reported

An employee of a business on Narragansett Avenue told police Nov. 28 that an exterior light on the building was apparently shot out, possibly with a BB gun, police said.

Kayak stolen

A resident of East Shore Road told police Nov. 26 that a red, ocean kayak was stolen from his yard.
