Holiday festivities continue this weekend

Holidays in the village continue this weekend with several wonderful offerings for townsfolk of all ages.

On Friday, Dec. 16 the second annual Harbor Fire will take place at East Ferry from 6 to 8 p.m. Due to last week’s miserable weather, Harbor Fire has been rescheduled. See the harbor ablaze and listen to music by Mannheim Steamroller.

On Saturday, Dec. 17, the “pupular” Paws & Claws Dog Parade will step off at 11 a.m. Dress the family dog in holiday finery and take a stroll down Narragansett Avenue. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m. at the Jamestown Fire Station, 50 Narragansett Ave.

The $5 fee will benefit the Jamestown Animal Shelter. For anyone without a canine friend, audience members are encouraged to come and cheer on Jamestown’s pets on their festive walk.

The popular story “The Polar Express” will come to Jamestown on Sunday, Dec. 18, in the form of an Express trolley ride. Only those lucky people already holding tickets will be able to participate in the trolley event as it is sold out.

For anyone who is still looking for the perfect gift, Chamber Checks are available for purchase at Baker’s Pharmacy, Conanicut Marine Ship’s Store, Grapes & Gourmet, Jamestown Hardware, and the Jamestown Press. Chamber Checks come in increments of $5, $10, and $20. They have no expiration date and can be used at over 30 Jamestown businesses.

Holidays in Jamestown events are sponsored by the Jamestown Chamber of Commerce. Visit www.JamestownRiChamber.com.
