New student counselor at Jamestown schools

The Lawn Avenue School will have a new student assistance counselor beginning this week.

Stephanie Wordell, MSW, LICSW, an employee of the Rhode Island Student Assistance Program, will be working on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays with students in grades 5 through 8.

Wordell has been working with children and adolescents for the past few years. Most recently, she has been a clinical care co-ordinator at Child & Family Services of Newport.

All Lawn Avenue School parents are invited to meet with Wordell on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m. in the Lawn Avenue School library. She will talk about the present and future goals of the Student Assistance program in the areas of substance abuse prevention, stress management, and support for parents and families.
