Drunk driving charges

• Kevin T. McLaughlin, 44, of North Kingstown was charged Dec. 17 with drunk driving after a traffic stop for swerving on Route 138.

McLaughlin is scheduled for a pre-trial hearing Dec. 23 in Newport District Court, police said.

• John Francis Pence, 28, of Portsmouth was charged Dec. 15 with drunk driving after he allegedly hit an occupied parked car in North Kingstown, and then fled the scene.

Pence was stopped on Route 138 eastbound.

He is scheduled to appear for a pre-trial hearing Jan. 6 in Newport District Court, police said.

Suspended license charge

Troy E. Scott, 35, of Providence was charged Dec. 18 with driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop on Route 138.

He is scheduled to appear Dec. 30 in Newport District Court, police said.

Obstructing officer charged

William E. Meininger, 39, of South Kingstown was charged Dec. 14 with obstructing an officer in the execution of his duty after he allegedly provided false identification after being stopped on Route 138 eastbound.

Meininger was also found to be wanted on a warrant from another municipality, police said.

He was arraigned Dec. 14, police said.

Wanted on warrant

Christine L. Defoe, 22, of 45 Columbia Ave., was picked up on a 2004 warrant for writing bad checks.

Defoe was arraigned by a Justice of the Peace and made restitution on the checks, police said, noting that the charges will be dismissed upon proof of payment, police said.

Bike stolen, recovered

Aresident of North Main Road told police Dec. 20 that his Black BMX bike was taken from his yard. It was later found, police said.

Graffiti found

A Howland Avenue resident reported Dec. 19 that the townowned water tower and surrounding fence were spray-painted.

Holiday decorations stolen

A Hull Street resident reported Dec. 18 that two white, lighted reindeer ornaments were stolen from the lawn. They were worth $30 each, police said.
