Newport choristers invite new members
The Newport Navy Choristers are seeking new members in all voice ranges for their 2006 musical season.
The choristers perform concerts throughout the year to benefit local charitable organizations. Since its founding in 1953, the choristers have raised over $350,000 for worthwhile area groups.
Membership is open to active duty, reserve, and retired military, civilian employees of local military commands, and family members age 16 and older. There are no auditions for the main chorus, and knowing how to read music is not required. While helpful, having previous choral experience is not necessary.
The choristers meet Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m. in the Quinn Lecture Room at the Naval War College. The first rehearsal for the spring season will be Jan. 3.
For additional information, call group Chorister Chairman Steve Larson at 847-4256, Chorister Director JoAnn Loewenthal, 423-3523, or go the group’s Web site at www.newportnavychoristers.com.
