James W. Smith, 69

James W. Smith, 69, of Pemberton Avenue died Friday, Dec. 30, 2005 at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence. He was the husband of Mary Grace (Vietri) Smith.

Born in Norwalk, Conn., he was a son of the late William F. and Helen (Jennings) Smith.

Mr. Smith was a tollkeeper for the Rhode Island Turnpike and Bridge Authority.

An active communicant of St. Mark Church, he was an altar

server and was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He was longtime member of the Friends of Bill W.

He was a volunteer and staff member of the Jamestown Senior Association.

Besides his wife he leaves his children, James W. Jr., Karen, Vicki, and Jayne Smith, all of New Milford, Conn.; a sister, Shirley Staack of Stanford, Conn.; and several grandchildren. He was the brother of the late Page Smith.

His funeral was held Tuesday, Jan. 3,2006, from the FaganQuinn Funeral Home, 825 Boston Neck Rd., North Kingstown, with a Mass of Christian Burial at in St. Mark Church, 60 Narragansett Ave. in Jamestown. Burial was in St. Mark Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions to St. Mark Church, will be appreciated.
