Genny Shumchenia) Testa
Genny (Shumchenia) Testa, 58, of Frigate Street died Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2005. She was the wife of Michael Testa.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of Anna (Koslowski) Shumchenia of North Providence and the late Alexander Shumchenia.
Mrs. Testa started her career as a healer and caregiver upon graduation as a licensed practical nurse from the Fatima Hospital School of Nursing. She went on to receive her registered nurse certification from Rhode Island College. She subsequently became a licensed acupuncturist after graduating from the New England School of Acupuncture.
Besides her husband and mother, Mrs. Testa is survived by a daughter, Stephanie Testa of New York City; a son, Christopher Testa of Boston; four sisters, Mary Swider, Irene Corvese, Millie Armstrong, and Helena DeStefano; and two brothers, Michael and John Shumchenia.
A memorial service was held Dec. 30 at at the Bay Voyage Inn, followed by a luncheon to celebrate Mrs. Testa’s life.
It was her wish that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 650309, Dallas, TX 75265.
