A gathering of fiddlers
Jack Wright has been playing Irish traditional music for over 20 years and is well known at area sessions. He also plays penny whistle, button accordion and harmonica, and is known to warble a song or two. He plays with area bands Killaloe and Perrotti and Wright and hosts a session at Celtica in Newport once a month.
Doors open at 6 p.m. The session starts at 6:30 and is open to Irish and old-time tunesmiths and singers. Stage performances will start at 7:30. The show will take place at the Common Fence Point Community Hall, 933 Anthony Rd., in Portsmouth.
Tickets cost $8 and are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The seventh annual “open mic tribute to the sea” is again brimming with a full night of musical acts. Common Fence Music is a non-profit organization. For more information, including directions to the hall, call 401-683-5085 or visit www.commonfencemusic.org.
