The Lawn Avenue School robotics team took first place for its presentation on Japanese shore crabs at the Lego League state competition Saturday at Roger Williams College. Forty-eight teams from around the state competed. In addition to the robotic challenge, each team had to do a research project on a threat to the oceans and come up with a creative solution. Jamestown won for having the most creative presentation. The Jamestown students focused on the invasive Japanese shore crab and their solution to the problem was to create a market for eating the crabs. They served fried crabs as part of their presentation. Pictured from left are Alex Gorelick (grade 8), Eric Holtzman (grade 7), Dylan Vogel (grade 7), Casey Brown (grade 7) and Amina Brown (grade 5).
