Possession of alcohol, marijuana charged

Nicholas Brown, 20, of North Kingstown, was charged Jan. 16 with possessing both marijuana and alcohol after a 1:30 a.m. traffic stop on Clarke Street for a broken brake light.

Brown is scheduled to appear in Newport District Court Jan. 20 for a pre-trial hearing, police said.

Suspended license charged

Vincent J. Neri, 18, of 2 Umiak Ave. was picked up Jan. 16 on a warrant for driving with a suspended license, while he was riding as a passenger in a car on Seaside Drive.

Neri is scheduled to appear in Newport District Court Jan. 20 for a pre-trial hearing, police said.

Drunk driving charged

Jonathan J. Pickett, 24, of Middletown, was charged Jan. 14 with drunk driving after police observed him swerving on North Main Road at 2:15 a.m.

Pickett is due to appear in Newport District Court Jan. 20 for a pre-trial hearing, police said.

Juvenile arrested

A17-year-old girl was charged Jan. 12 with being wayward and habitually disobedient after she spit in the face of one of her parents.

The girl was arraigned Jan. 13 in Family Court, police said.

• Raymond Duclos, 46, of 11 Mast St., pleaded no contest to an amended charge of simple assault Jan. 6. The case was filed for one year and Duclos must undergo alcohol counseling, avoid alcohol, and obey a no contact order. He was also assessed court costs, police said.

• Troy Scott, 35, of Providence, had his license reinstated after he pleaded no contest to a charge of driving with a suspended license.

The case was dismissed upon payment of court costs, police said.

• Daniel Kitts, 19, of 17 Plymouth Rd. pleaded no contest to a charge of driving without a license and to a charge of possession of an alcoholic beverage by an underage person.

He was fined $250 on the first count, $150 on the second, and he must complete 10 hours of community service, police said.

• Joseph Rezendes, 44, of 156 Beacon Ave. pleaded no contest Jan. 13 to a charge of driving with a suspended license.

He was fined $350 and court costs, police said.
