Joseph DeCubellis, 61
Joseph DeCubellis, 61, of North Main Road passed away peacefully at home Monday, Jan. 10, 2006 with his family by his side. For 37 years, he was the beloved husband of Kathleen Doreen (Manning) DeCubellis.
Born in Providence, a son of Mary (Conti) DeCubellis of Johnston and the late Michael DeCubellis, he lived in Jamestown for four years. He previously lived in Johnston.
Mr. DeCubellis was a retired Johnston school teacher, who worked from 1969 until retiring in Jan. 2001. He was an English and math teacher, a librarian and elementary school teacher. Mr. DeCubellis enjoyed stock car racing. He was also a coach for cross country and track and field in Johnston. Mr. DeCubellis also worked for the Specialty Bakery in Knightsville, a business owned by his family until 1978. He also worked at the Warwick Country Club and the Alpine Country Club.
He was a parishioner of both St. Mark Church, Jamestown, and St. Robert Bellarmine Church in Johnston.
He was the beloved father of Dr. Jamieson DeCubellis and his wife Shirley of Jamestown and Tara Kerman and her husband Brent of Cranston; the loving grandfather of Aiden and Preston; and the brother of Michael DeCubellis and his wife Terry of Westerly. Mr. DeCubellis had several nieces and nephews.
His funeral was held Jan. 14 from Woodlawn Funeral Home in Cranston. Burial was in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. In Lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to Hospice V.N.A. of Care N.E., 51 Health Lane, Warwick, RI 02886.
