Get toes a-tapping with new adult dance class
The recreation department is offering a new adult class called “Theater Dance,” which will be taught by Debra Murphy.
The class will incorporate show tunes of the ‘20s, ‘40s, and ‘50s and dance styles — tap dance, jazz, and chorus line moves. There is no need to buy tap shoes, hard shoes with secure straps are good enough, and soft sole dance slippers are also welcome.
This six-week class will begin on Saturday, Jan. 21, and run from 10 to 11:20 a.m.
The fee is $ 60 per person and drop-ins will not be allowed.
Debra Vierra Murphy is a former member of the dance company at Roger Williams University. She has been a local performer with the Jamestown Community Theatre, Central Baptist Church Players, and Newport Players Guild, Lyric Theatre Company, Carriage House Theatre in Little Compton, Portsmouth Community Theatre, and Roger Williams University.
