Drunk driving charged

Jin Kang, 23, of Newport was charged with drunk driving Feb. 2 after being stopped for speeding and erratic driving on Route 138 near the Newport Bridge toll plaza. He refused to take a chemical test. Kang is scheduled to appear in Newport District Court on Feb. 10. Vandalism reported

An employee of the Jamestown Harbormaster’s Department told police Feb. 2 that the harbormaster’s inflatable boat had been severely damaged, a metal container had been vandalized, and flares and a fire extinguisher had been discharged at Jamestown Boat Yard on Racquet Road.
