Free art talk at the Jamestown library
“The Joys of Toys” will be presented on Wednesday, March 8, at
Though Bob Fisher and Claire Marschak technically left childhood a number of decades ago, the two have never lost their love and appreciation for toys. As a married couple, they have created their own thriving toy design company called Blue Sky, based out of their home in North Kingstown. Bob and Claire both have degrees in Industrial Design, Bob’s from the Cleveland Design Institute and Claire’s from the Philadelphia College of Art. Following years in upstate New York where they worked as toy designers for Fisher Price, the couple moved to R.I. when Bob was hired as Vice President of Design for Hasbro Toys.
In addition to their toy design work, they are raising two sons, Claire, who is an accomplished gardener and painter (two of her works are currently hanging in the Jamestown Library Art Corridor), and Bob, who continues to expand his extensive antique toy collection consisting primarily of American-made antique vehicles.
The behind-the-scenes slide show and presentation of Bob and Claire’s “non-computer design process” give attendees a look at some of their most famous products. The event promises fun for toy fans of all ages.
Sponsored by the Conanicut Island Art Association, the evening is free and open to the public.
