Trattoria chef at charity event

Chef Kevin Gaudreau of Trattoria Simpatico will be sampling items from his menu at the third annual Great Chefs of Rhode Island event to benefit the American Red Cross R.I. Chapter. The event will be held at Roger Williams Park Casino on Monday, March 6, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

This tasting event features a sampling of cuisine and cooking demonstrations from Rhode Island’s top fine dining restaurants, as well as international flavors from Rhode Island chefs from around the globe.

In July 2002, Gaudreau joined the team of the critically acclaimed Trattoria Simpatico. Gaudreau’s masterful culinary creations have earned him local and national acclaim, including several “Best Of” awards from Rhode Island Monthly magazine.

Gaudreau’s culinary style can be described as regional American, with an emphasis on fresh seafood. He is also strong advocate for supporting local farmers, using only locally grown produce and herbs.

In addition to his role as executive chef, Gaudreau is the star and creative director for Coastal Cuisine, a new educational culinary program that focuses on restaurantstyle food cooked in the home kitchen. Coastal Cuisine, which airs on Cox Channel 3, explains the secrets of preparing delectable, gourmet food at home.

Tickets to the Great Chefs of Rhode Island event cost $50 per person and are available at www.riredcross.org or by calling 831-7700.
