BankNewport continues local charitable giving

BankNewport President and Chief Executive Officer Thomas W. Kelly has announced that the bank contributed more than $950,000 in 2005 to over 350 non-profit organizations from Newport County, Bristol County, and throughout Rhode Island. The amount is 12.5 percent of the bank’s net income for the year.

Through their charitable giving programs, BankNewport extends funding support for community based programs focusing on community development, education, arts and culture and human services, all to enhance and strengthen the quality of life in communities throughout Rhode Island.

“Historically, we have given 10 percent of BankNewport’s net income back to the communities, which is exclusive of our normal bank lending activities. So, it is with great pride that I’m able to share the bank’s increased commitment of 12.5 percent last year,” Kelly said.

“BankNewport and our employees are dedicated to investing in our neighborhoods. As bankers, we understand longterm investments,” Kelly added.
