Schroder talks about Hessians
Author and historian Walter Schroder will give a talk on his latest book, "The Hessian Occupation of Newport and Rhode Island 1776-1779," on Saturday, March 11, at 2 p.m. at the North Kingstown Free Library.
In his talk, Schroder will provide insight into the Hessian troops who formed a significant part of the British-led occupying force in Rhode Island during the American Revolution. Schroder has written five books reflecting his interest in Rhode Island's military history. The first was "Defenses of Narragansett Bay in World War II," now in its ninth printing. He has lectured extensively and has appeared on NBC 10 Timelines and public television.
