Library hours change with computer update
On Tuesday and Wednesday, March 21-22, the Jamestown library, will be open limited hours due to updates that will be made to the Cooperating Libraries Automated Network or CLAN database.
On Tuesday, March 21, the library will be open from 2 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday, March 22, the hours are 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and then again from 7 to 9 p.m.
Further computer updates are expected to take place on Monday, March 27 and Tuesday, March 28.
CLAN is the consortium of Rhode Island public libraries that share a common database and pool resources for the benefit of all Rhode Island residents. The network anticipates that migrating the database to Millennium, a product of Innovative Interfaces Inc., will allow the network to continue to expand services and products to the library-using public.
"Millennium is the same database used at the University of Rhode Island and the libraries of the HELIN consortium so many users will find it familiar and user-friendly," said Judy Bell, Jamestown's library director.
