Hear about America's Cup 2007 at luncheon

America's Cup 2007 Race Officer Peter Reggio will speak at a Sail Newport luncheon on Wednesday, March 22, at noon at the Atlantic Beach Club.

Reggio is the principal race officer of the 32nd America's Cup to be held in Valencia, Spain, in June of 2007. He also directs all of the sailing events leading up to the America's Cup, including the "13 Acts" of pre-regattas and the Louis Vuitton Cup, which determines the challenger who will face the Swiss defending champion Alinghi.

Reggio has been running races professionally since 1996 after a career in the marine and sail-making business. The long list of sailing events Reggio has run in the U.S. and abroad includes 14 annual Newport Regattas, three Farr 40 World Championships, Swan 45 World Championships, J/24 Worlds, Mumm 30 Worlds, Finn Gold Cup and Worlds, and, race circles at Key West Race Week and Block Island Race Week. He is also currently the race management co-ordinator of all nine Sailing World/ NOOD Regattas.

Atlantic Beach Club is located at First Beach, 53 Purgatory Rd., Middletown. Tickets to the event cost $25 each.
