Lecture features van derWal

The Audubon Society of Rhode Island will host Newport photographer and Jamestowner Onne van der Wal, who will recount his journey to Russia's wild places through breathtaking photographs.

van der Wal will talk about Kamchatka in Eastern Russia, a volcanic belt made up of 29 active craters and host to Steller's sea eagles, brown bears, wild salmon, and much more. This remote area is sparsely populated, but home to one of the largest surviving wild salmon populations left in the world.

The lecture will be held at the Audubon Society of Rhode Island's Environmental Education Center, 1401 Hope St. in Bristol. Admission is $10 for members and $12 for non-members. Registration is required as space is limited. Call 245-7500, ext. 18.
