Artist John Mecray will talk about his career

The Friends of the Jamestown Library are delighted to welcome world-renowned marine artist John Mecray on Thursday, April 20, at 7:30 p.m. at the Jamestown library. Mecray will share stories and images of the people, events, and classic racing yachts that have influenced his remarkable career. Mecray has painted the world's most famous yachts in the more than 30 years he has worked as an artist.

He helped found the International Yacht Restoration School and the Museum of Yachting in Newport, and he continues to work closely with them, as well as the Mystic Seaport Museum and the Herreshoff Marine Museum. Mecray's knowledge and love of sailing is evident in his ability to detail dramatic moments in yachting history.

A limited number of Coronet posters, designed for IYRS by John Mecray, will be available "free of charge" to those attending this library event, which is free and open to the public.

Refreshments will be served.
