Drunk driving arrests

+ Joseph D. Pinheiro, 19, of 161 Beacon Ave. was charged April 2 with drunk driving after being found passed out in his car in the parking lot of a business on North Main Road.

Pinheiro was also charged with refusing to take the Breathalyzer test, police said.

He is scheduled to appear April 7 for a pre-trial hearing in Newport District Court, according to police.

+ Andrew B. Shepard, 25, of Lincoln was charged April 1 with drunk driving after a traffic stop at the toll plaza of the Newport Bridge for stopping in the travel lane and causing a traffic backup.

Shepard was also charged with refusing to take the Breathalyzer test, police said. He is scheduled to appear April 7 for a pre-trial hearing in Newport District Court, according to police.

License violations charged

Eleanor Watts, 44, of Newport was charged March 31 with driving without a license after a traffic stop on Route 138.

Watts is due in Newport District Court April 14, police said.

Juvenile arrest

A 15-year-old male was arrested March 30 after he was observed kicking down a fence at the ambulance barn on Knowles Court.

The boy was turned over to Family Court, police said.

Arrested on warrant

Daniel N. Szala, 19, of Newport was picked up March 29 on a Newport District Court bench warrant and turned over to the court, police said.

Building materials stolen

A resident of Southwest Avenue told police April 3 that sheets of plywood and an outdoor bench were stolen from his property.

Police said the items were later found in the vicinity of Maple Avenue and had been assembled into a "fort."

Lawn ornaments taken

AHigh Street resident reported April 1 that lawn ornaments in the shape of a rabbit, a frog, and an ant made out of an old Army helmet were stolen from the yard.
