Summer playground registrations underway

The Jamestown Parks & Recreation Department has started registrations for its Summer Playground Program at Ft. Getty.

The program runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with the option of staying until 4 p.m. A half-day option is also available. The program is scheduled to run from Monday, June 26, to Friday, Aug. 18. The cost of the half day option is $40 a week, the 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. option will cost $90 per week, and the 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. cost is $110 a week. For people registering for more than four weeks during the month of April price breaks will be given.

Each week will feature a theme such as Arts and Crafts, Sports, the Environment, and Animals. Projects and activities will be centered around the theme. Some of the weekly field trips that have been planned include the Mystic Aquarium, Providence Children's Museum, and the Roger Williams Park Zoo.

Registrations are now being accepted. Forms are available at the Community Center, the Recreation Office and will be distributed at the schools. Forms can also be downloaded at www.jamestownri.net/rec/rec.html. For more information, call 423-7211.
