'Green-Up Day' at the ball fields Saturday morning

Green-Up Day is scheduled for Saturday, April 29, starting at 8:30 a.m. at the fields.

Teams will be formed to work on each field as well as the concession stand. Players, families, coaches and other volunteers will be needed to take part in a long list of tasks. Volunteers should bring work gloves, rakes, shovels, trash bags, and wheelbarrows. We will also need some people who can help anchor some shelves and other items into concrete block. Contact Tony Rafanelli at 423-3953 for more information.

At Green-Up Day, it will be last chance to claim lost and found items. Also, a baseball/soccer cleat exchange will take place.

Opening day ceremonies will be on Saturday morning, May 6. Players and coaches from Babe Ruth down to Rookie League will meet in front of the Community Center at 8:30 a.m. Instructional League players and coaches will meet at the fire station at 8:30 a.m. The parade will commence at 8:45 a.m. and march up Narragansett Avenue, then make a right onto Lawn Avenue and proceed to the ball fields. The annual Pitch, Hit, and Run Competition will immediately follow the opening ceremonies.

Jamestown Baseball is asking various civic organizations to consider sponsoring recycling receptacles. The league is also in need of a weatherproof public address system.
