EMS week celebrated

The Jamestown Emergency Medical Services received a proclamation from Governor Donald L. Carcieri last week designating May 14 to May 20, as Emergency Medical Services Week.

The JEMS is an all-volunteer organization providing emergency service at no charge to island residents. The volunteers respond to approximately 600 calls each year and provide both emergency and non-emergency care for the Jamestown community.

The JEMS would like to invite motivated members of the community who want to volunteer for this vital community service. Drivers and crew are especially needed at this time. Training and uniforms are provided, and the satisfaction that comes with helping friends and neighbors in a very special way is guaranteed. Interested adults can call 4237276 or write to Jamestown Emergency Medical Services, P.O. Box 8, Jamestown, 02835.
