Plant society to sell native species
The Rhode Island Wild Plant Society will hold their annual native plant sale on Saturday, June 3, at the URI greenhouses on Flagg Road in Kingston.
The sale runs from 9 a.m. to noon, with members of the society getting a preview sale beginning at 8 a.m.
There will be a silent auction of rare and collectible plants at 10:30 a.m.
Among the plants for sale are trilliums, bloodroot, Jacob's ladder, wild geranium, wild blue phlox, celandine poppy, Virginia bluebells, jack in the pulpit, marsh marigold, mayapple, Dutchman's breeches and Solomon's Seal; ferns, such as ostrich fern and maidenhair fern; carnivorous plants, bog plants, and a great selection of gorgeous native shrubs; witch hazel, viburnum, fothergilla, winterberry, oak leaf hydrangea, laurels, azaleas and rhododendrons. This year there will also be native R.I. aquatics for the backyard pond or water feature.
