Order your DMV vanity plates online

The state Division of Motor Vehicles this week launched a new online service -Online Vanity Plate Orders. By going to the DMV's Web site at www.dmv.ri.gov and clicking on the "Online Services" link, citizens can actually see what their intended plate will look like and pay to reserve the plate using a Visa, Mastercard, or Discover credit card.

"Rhode Islanders take their license plates very seriously," said Charles F. "Ted" Dolan, administrator of the Division of Motor Vehicles, "The online vanity plate search and reservation system is going to be a very popular service and we're pleased to be able to provide the citizens of Rhode Island a fun and easy way to personalize their vehicles."

The vanity name can be printed on either the Wave plate design for $41 ($28 for motorcycles) or on the Sailboat plate design for $55. All fees include a $5 convenience fee for processing the plate order. After the vanity plate reservation is made, the order is sent to the DMV for a final review and sent to production. Apostcard will be sent to the customer when the vanity plates

are complete and the order is ready to be picked up. Registration and/or plate change fees will still apply once the customer picks up the plates.
