Drug charges

David F. Esposito, 51, of Providence was charged June 1 with driving with an expired license and being in possession of cocaine after a traffic stop for not having a rear license plate light.

The drug charge is a felony, police said, adding that Esposito will appear for a pre-trial hearing July 13.

Drunk driving charged

Richard A. Russ, 18, of 400 Gondola Ave. was charged June 3 with drunk driving after a 1 a.m. traffic stop on North Main Road.

Police said Russ did not have his headlights on and was swerving when pulled over.

He was also charged with being in underage possession of alcohol, police said.

Russ is scheduled to appear June 9 in Newport District Court, police said.

Suspended license charged

Crystal Wilson, 36, of Central Falls was charged June 3 with driving with a suspended license after a traffic stop on Route 138.

Wilson is scheduled to appear June 16 in Newport District Court, police said.

Larcenies reported

+ A resident of the Newport Overlook timeshares told police June 4 that a video camera and related equipment was taken from his car.

The equipment was worth about $600, police said.

+ An employee of Xtra/Mart reported the theft of $16.01 worth of gas on June 2.

Vandalism reported

An employee of a Ferry Wharf business reported June 3 that an exterior lighting fixture worth about $500 was destroyed.
