Summer arrives next week
Before the next edition of the Jamestown Press arrives in mailboxes around the island, the official start of the summer season will have happened.
On Wednesday, June 21, the sun will be directly overhead at noon at the Tropic of Cancer, which is midway between the equator and the North Pole. This is also the longest day of the year, with some 15 hours and 12 minutes of daylight expected in our region. The sun will rise at 5:11 a.m. and set at 8:23 p.m.
