Baptist church June festival this Saturday
For many festival-goers, the summer season kicks off officially with Central Baptist Church's June Festival.
The date this year is Saturday, June 24, from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., rain or shine.
The festival features a live auction, a flea market, including a "kids' mart," baked goods, crafts, white elephants, books and videos, clothing, vintage treasures, plants, and a country store. Food booths feature homemade clam chowder, grilled items, and luscious homemade strawberry shortcake.
Bargain hunters can bid against each other throughout the day in a silent auction that will feature local art, restaurant gift certificates, tickets to sports events, computer services, appraisal services, camp tuitions, an afternoon sail, kayak rentals, a catered dinner, and much more. Meanwhile, a live auction will accommodate the spirited style of bidders competing for a treasure trove of art, antiques, and rattan and wicker furniture. The live auction begins at noon.
Festival-goers can also buy raffle tickets to take a chance on Providence Performing Arts Center tickets, a handmade birdhouse and feeder, and a dozen lobsters. Also available this year are custom made T-shirts with a Don Bousquet drawing of the Jamestown Bridge demolition.
Central Baptist Church is located at the Four Corners, the intersection of Narragansett Avenue and North Main Road. The church is handicapped accessible.
