Camp opportunities for kids offered

The South Kingstown Parks and Recreation Department is offering nature-themed camps for children this summer.

The Wet-n-Wild nature camp will offer campers a chance to become modern-day explorers, setting off on an adventure to discover the wonders of the natural world. During this fiveday camp running from July 24 to July 29, there will be plenty of activities, crafts, and destinations, as well as the opportunity to explore Asa Pond. The camp meets from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day and costs $152 for residents of South Kingstown and $162 for non-residents, which includes all busing and entrance fees.

The camp is open to children ages 7 to 12. For more information or to register, call South Kingstown parks and recreation at 789-9301.

There is also a Creature Crafts Camp for children who love animals.

Each day will be packed with of animal-inspired crafts as children learn about a whole world of critters. On the last day, there will be an art show for parents. All participants should be prepared to get messy. The camp will be held at the Tri-Pond Park Nature Center from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., July 18 through July 20. The cost for residents of South Kingstown is $122. For non-residents the cost is $132. All materials are included.
