Marijuana possession charged

Christopher S. Neagle, 54, of Cumberland, Maine, was charged June 27 with possession of marijuana, after an officer responded to his disabled vehicle on Route 138.

Neagle is scheduled for a pretrial hearing July 7 in Newport District Court, police said.

Arrested on warrant

Dale M. Buckey, 52, of 27 Douglas St. was picked up June 27 on a 6th District Court warrant for failing to appear in court.

Buckey was transported to the Adult Correctional Institutions, police said.

Drunk driving charged

David James Kemble, 30, of Kingston was charged June 24 with drunk driving with a blood alcohol content of .15 or greater after being observed speeding and swerving on Route 138.

Kemble is scheduled to appear June 30 in Newport District Court, police said.

Suspended license charges

+ David J. Dourado, 28, of 218 Capstan St. was charged June 22 with driving with a suspended license after he was pulled over for having no front license plate.

Dourado is scheduled to appear July 7 in Newport District Court, police said.

+ Benjamin P. Coulter, 21, of Newport was charged June 21 with driving with a suspended license after being stopped at the Newport Bridge toll plaza.

Coulter is scheduled for a June 30 arraignment, police said.

Vandalism reported

+ A town employee reported June 27 that the water-pumping station on Bayview Drive had been damaged. It appeared that someone had taken a sharp object and scratched words in the paint, police said.

+ A resident of Beach Avenue reported June 23 that her sliding glass door had been smashed.

+ A Lincoln Street resident told police June 23 that there was what appeared to be a bullet hole in an upstairs window.
