Margaret V. Halliday, 91
Margaret V. Halliday, 91, of Dorchester, Mass., and formerly of Newport and Jamestown, died June 18, 2006. She was the wife of the late Norman J. Halliday.
Born in Newport to Edward A. and Anastasia (Walsh) Donahue, she grew up in Beavertail Lighthouse in Jamestown, where her father was the head lighthouse keeper, and lived through the Hurricane of 1938 that devastated much of New England.
She worked at Filene's in Boston for 40 years, often in the Trim-a-Tree shop at holiday time.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra Driscoll of Kingston, Mass; two sons, Norman J. "Skippy" Halliday Jr. of East Dennis and Michael Halliday of Norfolk; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Edward A. and Catherine A. Donohue.
Her funeral was from the Mann & Rodgers Funeral Home of Jamaica Plain. Burial was in St. Columba Cemetery, in Middletown.
