Drunk driving arrests
+ Gerald Brooks Riker, 49, of West Warwick was charged with drunk driving July 8 after a traffic stop on Route 138 for swerving.
Riker is due to appear in Newport District Court on July 14, police said.
+ John G. Dourado, 30, of 213 Capstan St. was charged with drunk driving July 8 and refusing to take a Breathalyzer test after a traffic stop on North Main Road.
Dourado is due to appear in Newport District Court on July 21, police said.
+ Timothy E. Kennedy, 66, of Newport was charged July 9 with drunk driving and refusing to take a Breathalyzer test after police observed him driving on his wheel rims, sending out sparks.
Kennedy is due in Newport District Court July 21, police said.
+ A resident of Melrose Avenue told police July 7 that driveway lanterns were stolen from the property.
+ A contractor working on High Street reported July 6 that several power tools were stolen from the job site. Missing are a $400 Hitachi compressor, a Skilsaw worth $300, a nail gun, electric cords, batteries and chargers worth another $500, police said.
A resident of Seaside Drive told police July 8 that youths were spotted cutting the baling wire off the hay bales that serve as safety barriers under the old Jamestown Bridge. The hay was left in large piles, police said.
